Instant Licensing by Telephone

24 Hours a Day 7 Days a Week - Call 1-800-406-6409

A service charge of $4 is assessed for each transaction under $70 and $10 for each transaction of $70 and more.

  • For many licenses you won't have to wait for the license to arrive to hunt or fish. Our agent will give you a number over the phone that can be verified in the field by a game warden. Note: Does not apply to licenses requiring a tag, such as paddlefish or deer archery, because the tag is part of the license and must be in your possession in the field.  These licenses will be mailed to you. Our agent will mail to you a copy of the applicable regulations.  You may also download them from our regulations page.

  • Apply for first-lottery licenses over the phone. Residents may apply for deer, turkey, and pronghorn. Nonresidents may apply for deer only. All you need is your credit card number and your hunter safety number if you were born after 1961.

Note: the Instant Licensing phone number is for license sales and license information only. To get other information, call the Department at 701-328-6300, Monday-Friday 8-5 Central Time.
