Big Game Processing Workshop

Start Date

Individuals age 15 and older who are interested in learning how to take harvested big game from the field to the freezer, can sign up for a free big game processing workshop, sponsored by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department and North Dakota Backcountry Hunters and Anglers.

The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 29, from 1-5 p.m., at the Game and Fish Department district shop (3001 E. Main) in Bismarck.

Participants will learn about necessary gear and techniques to break down and remove big game animals from areas that are inaccessible to vehicles, or from areas where chronic wasting disease transport restrictions prohibit removal of big game carcasses from certain North Dakota deer units.

In addition, participants will spend time with experienced mentors quartering deer, then cutting up and packaging the meat for the freezer.

Participants can register by contacting Department education coordinator Brian Schaffer at 701-328-6312. Sign up soon, as space is limited.
