Summary of Work

Conduct voluntary boater surveys and watercraft inspections across North Dakota.

Essential Functions:

  • Survey watercraft users and perform boat inspections to monitor for the presence of Aquatic Nuisance Species.
  • Educate the public on strategies to prevent the spread of ANS.
  • Drive moderate distances and navigate to boat ramps using google maps.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the ANS Biologist.
  • Equipment and gear maintenance.
  • Individuals must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Job Duration

2 months (mid-August-October) but may be longer depending on need and availability.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess strong verbal communication skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Individuals must be capable of working long and irregular hours. Applicants must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to crouch down and look underneath watercrafts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to individuals enrolled at, or a recent graduate of college or university majoring in a natural resource related field.

Positions available at Devils lake, Bismarck, Valley City, Jamestown and Riverdale. Applicants will be asked to specify their preferred location as well as other locations applicants are willing to work in. Please indicate these locations in the application process to be considered for employment in these districts.
