Chronic wasting disease is a fatal disease of deer, moose and elk that can cause long-term population declines if left unchecked. CWD has been found in a limited number of animals in Grant and Sioux counties since 2009. More recently, it was found in Divide and Williams counties. The number of animals infected in these counties is currently low (less than 2 percent), and CWD has not been detected in the remainder of the state. This means it is still possible to limit the impact of CWD in North Dakota. Find out more in this week’s webcast with Assistant Wildlife Division Chief Casey Anderson.
