Deer Jaw Collection Envelope Order Form

Department biologists are asking hunters to voluntarily send in the lower jaw from deer they harvested this season.

Hunters can submit jaws from both white-tailed and mule deer taken during any open season in North Dakota.

By voluntarily sending in the lower jaw of their deer, hunters can assist Game and Fish biologists in monitoring the state’s deer populations. Biologists can determine an individual’s approximate age by visually analyzing its tooth replacement and wear. This information can then be used to assess age structure, and with a large enough sample size, estimate abundance.

Instructions for submitting jaws are printed on the envelope.
