North Dakota - Species

Travelers driving across North Dakota on I94 might assume the plains are uniform and monotonous. But wandering some of the state’s backroads brings into view the impressive diversity of North Dakota’s prairies.

One effort to understand and protect that diversity is the "State Wildlife Action Plan". This plan lists “Species of Greatest Conservation Need”, species that are known to be at-risk or in decline.

SGCN accounts can be found at the first link below.

The second link provides general information on some of North Dakota’s other game and nongame species.

Note: This is a subset of species found in North Dakota. Only SWAP SGCN and a select set of game and nongame species are included.
