Shorebird Nest Success and Nest-Site Selection in the Devils Lake Wetland Management District (SWG T-13-R)

Publication cover
Description

Although eastern North Dakota has been dramatically altered by human activities, some native and restored tracts of grassland exist. In addition to privately owned pastures, various state and federal programs have converted cropland acres to grassland. The management of these grasslands has become increasingly important as the available grassland habitat shrinks. As a crucial consideration of wildlife management plans, habitat requirements of certain species must be identified. In an effort to aid in the effectiveness and efficiency of grassland restoration and management, this project is concerned with determining nest-site selection criteria for shorebird species breeding in eastern North Dakota.
