What is Environmental Review?

The Conservation Section of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department provides technical input and guidance on energy, water, roads and bridges, public land related projects, and the National Environmental Policy Act.

Responsible development should avoid and minimize impacts to wildlife and habitat resources to the extent possible.

Mitigation and reclamation of impacted areas are also important practices for offsetting unavoidable impacts to wildlife and habitat resources.

The overall objective is no net loss of wetland, grassland or woodland habitat.

The Conservation Section also includes the Department’s nongame program, threatened and endangered species conservation, and State Wildlife Action Plan.
