2024 State Fair Work Details

Eligibility

The opportunity to volunteer for the NDGF State Fair Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park is open only to current Department volunteers and staff.

Schedule

  • 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Volunteer registration at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center Atlantis Room (2200 Burdick Expressway East).
    • Volunteers must sign the Event Reporting Form for days worked.
    • Each volunteer receives 1 gate pass and 1 shirt.
  • 12 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Arrive at your designated workstation and check in with your station supervisor (supervisors will be wearing an NDGF gray polo).
    • Jeff/Makenzie - Fishing
    • Jeff/Hunter - Archery
    • Marty - Trapping
    • Brian - Hunting
    • Greg - Information Booth
    • Amber - Registration and Fish Hut
  • 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. - Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park open.
  • Hotel Check-in 3 P.M., Check-out: 12 P.M.

General Information

Parking

  • Clarion Hotel Parking Lot
    • If staying at the hotel, you will receive a parking pass when you check in at the front desk.
    • If you will not be staying at the hotel, tell the parking attendant you are with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
  • Fairgrounds - East Side

Hotel

  • Hotel rooms are available between days worked if
    • you are traveling more than 60 miles and
    • are working 2 or more days.
  • (Note: If you are traveling more than 75 miles and would like to stay another night, we will try to accommodate you. However, first priority is given for those individuals working the next day.)
  • The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is paying for volunteer rooms, however, due to hotel policies, each guest must provide a personal credit card for incidental charges.
    • Any incidental charges to the room will be your responsibility.

Apparel

Following these attire guidelines helps the public identify our team members and maintain a professional appearance.

  • Volunteers and staff are required to wear the designated volunteer or staff shirt.
    • Volunteers - light blue volunteer t-shirt (provided)
    • Permanent Staff - NDGF polo shirt (outdoor education events)
    • Seasonal Staff - polo shirts (gray)
  • Volunteer name tag stickers will be provided at the registration table.

If you have worked the fair in the past, please bring the previously issued shirt(s).

Volunteer Forms

To speed up the registration process, please bring completed forms with you on the day you work (do not email or mail). Blank forms will also be available at the registration table.

  • W-9 (fill out yellow highlighted areas)

Reminders

  • If you are not going to make your scheduled shift, please let us know as soon as possible so we can attempt to find a replacement.
  • Gate passes are only provided for individuals working in the Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park.
  • Before taking a break from your work station, please let the station supervisor know so someone can cover for you.
  • Water and sunscreen will be available.
  • No pets allowed on fairgrounds.

Location

The Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park is located on the north end of the fairgrounds, on the south side of the pond.
