Summary of Work
Primary duties include: Interpretive tours and maintenance of an outdoor interpretive site, give guided fishing excursions to schools and other community groups, presentations in classrooms and other public events, teach hunter education, assist in coordination of state fair, fishing camps, state archery tournament and other events as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in education, wildlife management, outdoor education, recreation administration or a field related to the program area. Graduating undergraduates with experience in education or natural resources will be considered. Applicant must be extremely self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision. Must have good overall knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and social media. Must be comfortable giving public presentations and working with kids. Excellent organization and communication skills. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and be flexible with work hours. Overnight travel, weekend and evening hours are required.
Requires satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given for:
- Experience educating children and/or adults, outdoor education, event coordination
- Experience operating and/or routine maintenance of small equipment, power tools and trailers
- Experience and participation in hunting, fishing, and other related outdoor recreational activities
