Position is generally 40 hours per week, with a duration of 4-6 months (September-February). Applicants must be able to work weekends and on call duty during busy seasons. Overnight travel is also possible.

Summary of Work
Primary responsibilities involve assisting with:
- planning, organizing, and carrying out disease surveillance projects including wildlife necropsies,
- retrieving carcasses from the field,
- maintaining the NDGF Wildlife Health Laboratory facility and equipment,
- intake and processing of samples and carcasses,
- interacting with the public,
- organizing and submitting samples to various labs for testing,
- data entry, organization, maintenance,
- and other duties as assigned.
Wildlife Opportunity:
This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work with a team of wildlife professionals to monitor wildlife populations and health issues throughout North Dakota. The work you do will directly contribute to harvest management and conservation planning throughout the state.
While this position is stationed in Bismarck, North Dakota, your responsibilities will allow you to explore all corners of the state including a wide range of beautiful landscapes and dynamic terrain.
We are looking for a candidate with a passion to help protect, perpetuate, and enhance the sustainable use of North Dakota's wildlife resources for the benefit of the public now and in the future.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology or management or closely related natural resource science degree. Other 4-year science related degrees will be considered if the applicant has at least 2 years’ experience of wildlife field work. Graduating undergraduates with experience will be considered.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class D North Dakota driver’s license. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be willing to travel extensively. Must possess well-developed oral and written communication skills, be highly responsible, be well organized, have attention to detail, and be self-motivated. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel).
