  • Flat-sided

  • Large golden eye
  • Only one dorsal fin located almost directly above the anal fin

Notes

Goldeye are found in both the Red River and Missouri River systems.

It is often called skipjack or shiner.

It is important as a forage fish for predators like catfish and pike.

They are bony fish, best prepared for eating by smoking.
