American Bittern Eyes

Did you know that the eyes on an American Bittern are set in their face so they can easily focus downward? Bittern eat a wide variety of prey like fish, insects, small reptiles and mammals which they use stalking behaviors to capture. Their downward focusing eyes are thought to help them better spot and hunt their prey on the ground or in the water.
